Frequently Asked Questions:

How old does my child need to be to attend an art class, event, or activity at Artsy Partsy? Artsy Partsy has a wide variety of art experiences for kids of all ages. From toddlers and preschoolers to kids in elementary, middle, and high school grades, and even - adults, we have something for everyone. Artists should only register for classes that are age appropriate as indicated in the class description. Occasionally, we grant special permission for artists to join a class with students who are older or younger based on their individual, previously demonstrated skill level. If you have a specific question about the age restriction for a class, please contact us at artsykidsmd@gmail.com

Can I register for classes in person at the studio? Registration for all of our art experiences must be completed online through our website. Our online booking system will automatically ask for any required forms/waivers as part of the registration process. Registration is not done at the studio in order to protect personal and financial information. Additionally, being registered through Sawyer, our booking system, ensures that you receive email communication for your group.

What should I wear to my art event at Artsy Partsy? We ask that all artists wear “mess-friendly” clothing, as some of our paints and supplies are NOT WASHABLE.  In an effort to limit the spread of germs, we are no longer offering aprons for students to use while at the studio because we are not able to wash/sanitize the aprons between each use.

What if we aren’t residents of AACo; can my child still attend? Certainly! As much as we love being located in Pasadena MD and being so close to Annapolis, we are thrilled to serve children and adults from all communities. We firmly believe that art should be available to any student at any stage and welcome any and all students to take our classes. If you’re willing to make the drive, we are honored to have you!

Which art camps and classes are available for Summer and Fall this year? View our entire selection of art classes, camps, clubs, and more here.

What are pod trips? Pod Trips 2020-2021 are similar to field trips, but better. Trips are offered on-site at our outdoor studio space, virtual, or in your neighborhood. Yes, we can come to you! Call 410-760-KIDS (5437) for more information.

What is your payment policy for parties? Artsy Partsy parties require a $100 deposit at the time of booking. Final balance will be due on the day of your party. During the planning process, we will communicate any costs that may be added such as extra artists, specialty projects, etc.

What is your payment policy for camps and classes? Payment for camps/classes is expected in full upon registration. Please note, your child is not enrolled until full payment is received.

I signed up but can’t find my email receipt. Once your artist is enrolled, you will receive an automated email receipt from Sawyer (our booking software) confirming your registration and payment. Sometimes Sawyer messages are accidentally flagged as “junk mail”, so please be sure to check your spam/junk folder.  Please add Sawyer to your address book, as class communication emails will also originate from Sawyer.

Can I get a discount or coupon for my classes? We strive to ensure that our art experiences remain as affordable and accessible as possible. Therefore, we do not offer or accept coupons or additional discounts. Gift cards may be purchased here, and used on all of our products and classes! Starting January 1, 2022, we will no longer be offering a sibling discount. All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, exchanges, or credits.  (See below for further explanation)

What if I need to cancel a class that I signed up for? Please plan carefully as we do not offer refunds. When you register for camp/class/party, your spot is held. This makes it unavailable for another artist who may want to sign up. We are a small studio and our sought after classes/camps have limited availability. Our no refund policy ensures that we can continue to offer exceptional art experiences to as many artists as possible!

Can I cancel my class and sign up for another class later? If we are notified in writing at least 10 business days prior to the start of the camp week/class, AND we are able to fill your spot by contacting those on the waiting list, then we are happy to offer a studio credit (minus the $25 cancellation fee).  This can be applied toward another comparable camp/class within 6 months of your cancellation. There are no refunds or studio credits given for cancellations made less than 10 business days prior to the first day of camp/class. In the rare event that a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, we will either give you a full refund or apply the class fee to another class of your choice.

My child isn’t feeling well, can he/she still come to classes at Artsy Partsy? We ask that you please refrain from sending your child to the studio when they are feeling under the weather.  It is particularly important to not come to the studio if your child has any symptoms related to Covid-19. We reserve the right to restrict admission or send your child home if we suspect that your child is ill and therefore risking the health and well-being of other children at the studio.

What happens if my child’s teacher is sick? In the event that the instructor is sick, we will provide a qualified substitute. If we are unable to arrange a substitute, we will communicate with you to schedule a make-up class for that day.

My child has special needs. Will he/she be able to participate? We believe that art is beneficial for everyone, regardless of individual limitations. We do not offer classes/events that are geared specifically toward children with special needs; however, we do try to make our classes as accessible as we can. Our goal is to reach as many students as possible, so we will try to make reasonable accommodations when possible. However, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to discuss individual situations prior to enrolling in classes/camps. Our studio is wheelchair-friendly with wide hallways, large bathrooms, and adjustable tables. However, please be aware that our studio is located on the third floor; so, even though there is elevator access, it would be difficult to exit the building in the event of an emergency or elevator malfunction.

My child is new to the classroom setting, will this be a problem? We will do our best to acclimate all children to the classroom environment. Artsy Partsy's primary goal is to teach and encourage a love of art. If a student cannot maintain appropriate classroom decorum, our policy is to call the parent/guardian to come pick them up, and a refund will not be issued.

Additional Information:

  • INFORMED CONSENT: Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we take every necessary precaution to ensure that your child is safe while they are in our care. By expressing consent at registration, you understand that your child may be working with certain tools including, but not limited to, hot glue guns, paper cutters, hammers, small kitchen appliances, sewing machines, sewing needles, irons, and small power tools.

  • BUILDING CODE: Part of the reason we chose this location is because of the building’s added security features. The door to get into the main building to access the elevator and stairs remains locked between 7pm on Friday and 7am on Monday. If you book an event that falls on a weekend, your event planner will be sure to share the door code with you before the big day.

  • FOOD & ALLERGY: Nut-free food and drinks are allowed in the studio ONLY during camps and parties. We strive to be allergy conscious and provide a safe environment for all of our students and staff, so we respectfully ask that you refrain from sending peanut products in lunches/snacks.

  • ALLERGY & MEDICAL: It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to indicate any allergies or medical conditions on the registration form, and to promptly update us if there are any changes to that information. Parents/Guardians assume full responsibility for their child’s allergies, medical conditions or special needs.

  •  PHOTOS: We do allow guests to take pictures while in the studio. However, please be aware that all of our artwork is copyrighted and photos of our original artwork are not permitted.  Parents/guardians will be asked if they consent to having pictures taken of their minor child. We use participant photos for promotional literature published and utilized exclusively by Artsy Partsy, including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and our website. The pictures will never be sold, nor will they have the children’s names associated with them.

  • FAMILY PAINT NIGHT: We ask that everyone who attends a family paint night be an active participant.  Each painter will need to purchase a ticket.  Family Paint Nights are meant to be a fun family bonding experience. Children under the age of 4 or a person with special needs may need assistance.

We understand the challenges of balancing family activities, work, and life’s many surprises. While we do our best to be flexible, it is our customer’s responsibility to become familiar with our studio policies as stated above. If you have any questions, please contact our studio at artsykidsmd@gmail.com.
